Barn

Materials Needed:

PSP 8 - Get it here. Would also work with ver. 7 with modification

Wood texture of your choice - I am using wood088.jpg, available here

You can download my hay tube here

You can find my Pitchfork tutorial here

1. Open a new image 700 x 500 and flood fill with a colour of your choice. I find a larger canvas easier to work with and can resize down when I'm done.

2. Click on your preset shapes tool , retain style unchecked, anti alias and create as vector checked, colour #6E6D68. Draw a rectangle near the top of your canvas. Hold down the Shift key and pull out on the top right node, then on the pull the top left node in the same direction:

Next, pull up on the bottom middle node

Layers--->Convert to raster layer. Rename layer to "roof 1"

3. Effects--->Texture Effects--->Texture. From the drop down menu, choose Factory Defaults, then change the texture to Asphalt 02 and change the size to 25 and the elevation to 17. Or, you can choose another texture if you wish.

4. Click on your preset shapes tool and draw another vector rectangle under the first one - a big bigger height-wise. (it will automatically draw on a new layer). Holding the shift key down, pull to the right on each of the top end nodes, down and to the right on the bottom right node, and down and to the left on the bottom left node as shown:

Make sure it's lined up with the first roof piece. Convert to raster layer and name it "roof 2".

5. Apply the same texture but change the elevation to 18. Layers--->Arrange--->Move Down to move it down below the roof 1 layer.

6. Go to your background layer. set your foreground to null and background to the wood texture you are using. I wanted mine to have an old weathered look, so I changed the colour by going to Adjust--->Hue and Saturation--->Colorize. I entered 48 for Hue and 23 for Saturation. With the preset shapes tool, draw a rectangle under the second roof piece, make it a bit taller than you want it to be. Hold down your Ctrl key and pull up on the bottom left corner node as shown:

Move up to align it with the roof so that there is no gap.

Convert to raster layer and name it "left side"

7. Go to your bottom layer and add a new raster layer. Set your foreground to black and background to null. Click on your pen tool and use the following settings:

Draw a line to the right of the roof and line it up with the top, as shown:

Zoom in and erase the part going over the roof top.

8. Add a new raster layer and draw another line and make sure it's lined up below the first one as shown (you won't be able to draw it exact, you will have to move it with the mover tool ):

Turn off all layers except these two line layers and merge visible. Rename to "right roof"

9. Go back down to your background layer and add a new raster layer named "front". Click on your freehand selection tool , antialias checked feather 0, Selection type point to point and draw a selection as shown:

Flood fill with your wood pattern and deselect. Click on your deform tool and hold your shift key down and pull up on the bottom right node:

Click on any other tool to apply the deformation. Adjust--->Brightness and Contrast--->Brightness/Contrast. Enter -5 in the Brightness field, 0 for contrast. If you have any of the wood pattern showing over the top of the right roof, just erase it.
