Desk Page 2

13. Turn off all layers except the front leg and copy of front leg layers. Merge visible these two layers, rename to "left leg" and turn the others back on. Move the leg layer to below the top and trim layers. Make sure that the sloped leg top is hidden behind the desk top. (if it sticks over, you
can erase it now or wait till later when you're certain of your leg placement)

14. Duplicate this layer and rename the duplicate layer to "right leg". Move the leg into position on the right side.

15. Go back to the left leg layer and duplicate again - rename to "right back leg". Resize by 90% and move into position at the back right corner, making sure the sloped top is hidden. You will likely need to sharpen and you may need to zoom in and erase any part of the top that shows above the desk top.

16. Go back to your left leg layer and duplicate renaming it to "left back leg". (it seems to look better when you duplicate the original layer, rather than duplicating the duplicate layers). Resize by 90%, sharpen and move in to place at the back left, making sure the top of the leg is behind the top of the desk. Sharpen.

17. On your right leg layer, add a new layer and name it "front". This is how your layers should look at this point:

18. With your selection tool, same settings, draw a rectangle from 147, 309 to 517, 355. Flood fill with your wood pattern, deselect and apply the inner bevel. Note: your exact co-ordinates may vary by a few pixels depending on where you placed your legs. You want the left side of the top to just overlap the side of the leg and the right side to be even with the right leg.

19. Add a new layer and name it "drawer". With your selection tool, same settings, draw a rectangle from 200, 315 to 455, 348. Once again, your exact coordinates will depend on the ones in the previous steps, you're looking to place the drawer as close to centre in the front as you can. Flood fill with your wood pattern sized at 25% for this pattern that I used, and deselect. Apply the soft edge inner bevel preset, changing the depth to 1.

20. To make the handles on the drawer, use a dingbat font, I used the Designer Dividers Dingbat, letter "e", size 16 and applied Mahogany's goalden BP/SBP preset. (if you used the one I provided, just copy and paste as new selection and place in the middle of the drawer) Edit--->Copy. Edit--->Paste as new selection and place on the right side of the drawer.

21. Go to the left back leg layer and add a new layer. Name it "right side". With your selection tool, same settings, draw a rectangle from 430, 170 to 690, 450. Flood fill with your wood pattern (if using the same one as me, change size to 100%) and deselect. Effects--->Geometric Effects--->Skew 15 Vertical. Image--->Resize by 50%, remembering to make sure "resize all layers" is UNchecked. (the reason for making this so big and then resizing is that it gets rid of the "jaggies" on the bottom). Move into position on the right side, so that the left side is just behind the right front leg.

23. With your selection tool, draw a rectangle from 530, 170 to 690, 265 and Edit--->Clear or Delete. Draw another rectangle from 665, 260 to 690, 340. Clear or Delete. Apply the same inner bevel as in step #3. At this point, make sure you are happy with the placement of your legs - I wasn't so I made an adjustment to the left back leg.

Turn off or delete your background layer and merge visible the rest. There you have your desk!

Enjoy!
