Door Tutorial Page 2

11. Select inside the frame with magic wand and add new layer, name it "left inside glass". Selections---->Modify---->Expand by one. Flood fill with stained glass texture. You might want to change the angle of the pattern, in the one on the top of Page 1, I used an angle of 180. The image I used is 83872s.jpg from Spectrum Glass. Lower opacity, I lowered mine to 70. Deselect.

12. Move the left inside glass layer to just below the left inside frame layer.

Turn off background and frame layer. While on one of the top two layers, merge visible. Rename merged layer "left window" and turn back on all layers.

13. Make sure you are on the left window layer. Layers---->Duplicate. Rename duplicate layer "right window". Image---->Mirror. If needed, use the mover tool to place tightly inside the frame.

14. Add new layer and name it Door. Go back down to your Frame layer and select with magic wand. Go back up to Door layer, Selections---->Modify---->Expand by one and flood fill with colour. Deselect.

15. Change your selection tool to ellipse, antialias off, and draw an ellipse on the door. Keep enough room on one side for the doorknob. Flood fill with white. Deselect.

16. Selections---->Modify---->Contract by 15. Edit---->Clear. Deselect.

17. Select the white part and apply your bevel preset. Deselect.

18. Select inside the oval frame and add a new layer named "door glass".

19. Selections--->Expand by one pixel. Flood fill with the stained glass and set opacity to 70. Deselect.

20. Move glass layer below door layer, turn off all other layers and merge visible the glass and door layers. Rename the merged layer, door.

21. Move your frame layer to the top, this is helpful if your colour is overlapping the frame.

22. Add new layer and name it "doorknob". Use a dingbat for your doorknob - I used Flower Ornaments, small letter a. Apply a preset. Rotate and move into place.

You could also make a circle with your selection tool, flood fill with white and apply a preset. Or you could use a tube for the doorknob or handle.

23. Turn off your background layer and merge visible the remaining layers. You can delete the background layer or flood fill with a colour and save. For the image at the top of Page 1, I made an outside wall around the door and between that and the door layers, flood filled an area the size of the outer door frame with yellow to look like a light. Another thing you could do is put a room behind the door. There are many possibilities.

Enjoy the tut!
