Animating the Jack'o'Lantern

1. On your bottom layer, add a new layer named "flame". Make two copies of the image (SHIFT+D) so you have three altogether. On each image, add flames with the fire tube. If you go over the edges, you can load the selection from alpha channel, like you did in step 10 on page 1, invert and hit delete to get rid of it.

Merge visible your layers and save each image as a .psp file to a temp directory. I just called mine image 1, image 2 and image 3. Make sure you save as a PSP 7 compatible file, in order to be able to open in Animation Shop! To do this, click on Options in the Save As dialogue box, and then select Save as PSP 7 compatible file from the drop down box as shown:

2. Open Animation Shop. File--->Animation Wizard. Use the following settings:

- Same size as first image, click Next
- Opaque or transparent, your choice (opaque gives a smaller file size apparently), click Next
- Upper left corner of frame
With the canvas color, click Next
- Yes, repeat the animation indefinately
Enter number of your choice - I set mine at 50, click Next
- add your images that you saved, click Next
- click Finish

You can view your animation by View--->Animation

Save as a gif

Enjoy!
