Materials needed:
PSP - get it here
Dingbat font - being a horse lover, I used YeeHaw, available here
Wood texture - I got mine from Absolute Background and Textures Archive
This tutorial can be made in either PSP 6 or 7
1. Open a new image, 500 x 300. Flood fill with a colour, if desired.
2. Add a new raster layer, name it Back. Using the selection tool, tolerance and feather set to 0, draw a rectangle from 15,100 to 485, 165. Flood fill with your wood pattern or a colour of your choice.
3. Inner bevel, Round. Change smoothness to 0, depth to 5 and shininess to 33
4. Add new layer, name it Hooks. With your selection tool, antialias checked, feather unchecked, draw a small circle on your wood back, midway down and to the left side. Flood fill with your wood pattern or a colour. Inner bevel with the round preset, changing the smoothness to 6, depth to 5 and shininess to 0. Apply a drop shadow if desired. Deselect.
5. Edit--->Copy. Edit--->Paste--->As new selection. Move into place to the right of the first hook. Edit--->Paste--->As new selection and move into place to the right of that one. Repeat as many times as you want hooks. Hint: Turning the grid on allows to judge distance and placement easier
6. Add new raster layer and name it Top 1. With your text tool, apply a dingbat of your choosing. I made mine size 62. Selections--->Select all. Using your selection tool, select the dingbat. Flood fill with your wood pattern or a colour of your choice. Apply the same inner bevel as for step #4. Deselect.
Tip: if you are using PSP 7, you can set your foreground to null and your back ground to the wood pattern (as shown below) before you apply your dingbat. This saves the step of flood filling it.
7. Repeat step #8 for as many figures as you want on top of the hanger.
8. Make sure you are on the Back layer. Add new raster layer and name it keys. Apply a key tube and place behind one of the hooks. (I scanned in a couple of my keys and made the ring using the Blade Pro preset gold_shiny from mardiweb.
9. Repeat Step #10 for as many hooks as you want, choosing whatever objects you wish to hang. If you need to make your canvas taller, just use the Image---> Canvas size feature, make sure you uncheck center vertically and enter 0 in the top field so that the hanger will be placed at the top of the canvas.
10. Delete your background layer, merge your remaining layers and tube it if you like or use it in an image. You can save in .psp format without merging the layers and then you can use it in various images, changing the items on the hooks any time you want.
Enjoy!
