Mug

Materials Needed:

PSP 8 - Get it here

Smoke tube (optional) - I got mine here

1. Open a new image, 300 x 300 and flood fill with a colour of your choice. Click on your preset shapes tool, retain style unchecked, anti-alias and create as vector checked. Foreground null and background the colour you want your mug to be. I am using #DFF2FB. Draw a rectangle as shown:

2. Right click on the bottom left node and choose "Node Type--->Symmetric. Grab the arrow and pull to the right until the line is straight again.

Do the same with the right node.

Click on your pen tool and hover the mouse over the bottom line until you see 'ADD'

Click once to add a node. Right click on the node and choose Node Type--->Symmetric. Pull up on the node and pull out on the arrow to smooth it out

Layers--->Convert to Raster Layer. Rename the layer "mug".

Note: If, like me, you have trouble getting both sides even, you can employ a little trick. With your selection tool, draw a rectangle around the side you don't like and hit your delete key. Deselect. Duplicate the layer (Layers--->Duplicate) and on the duplicate layer, Image--->Mirror. With your mover tool, bring the pieces together and merge visible these two layers.

3. Add a new raster layer and take the check off create as vector on the shapes tool. Draw an ellipse on the top, as shown. You may need to use the deform tool to get it to fit. For this illustration, I've drawn it in a contrasting colour, so you can see better.

Adjust--->Brightness and Contrast--->Brightness/Contrast. Enter -5 for Brightness, 0 for Contrast.

4. Go down to your background layer. Click on your pen tool and use the following settings:

Foreground the colour of your mug, background null. Draw a line as shown (it will automatically draw on a new layer):

Right click on the node at the top and choose Node Type--->Symmetric. Grab the tab and pull down on it, as shown:

Click on your shapes tool again and grab the centre node and move the handle in to the mug:

Click on the bottom node and move out a bit to connect the bottom of the handle with the mug.

Layers--->Convert to Raster Layer Rename layer to "handle"

5. Add a new layer named "coffee". With your selection tool, draw an ellipse in the top of the mug and flood fill with black.

If you like, you can use the smoke tube to add steam. I reduced the opacity to 60 on mine. You can also use a tube to decorate the mug if you like.

Delete the background layer and merge visible the rest. You now have a mug to use in your images. Enjoy!
