Screen Door

Materials needed:

PSP - download here

Screen Texture from my Screen Tutorial

Blade Pro or Super Blade Pro (optional) - download here

Wood Texture (optional) - I got mine from Absolute Background Textures Archive

Bevel_Soft preset for BP or SBP (optional) - I don't know if this came with BP or if I downloaded it from somewhere, so I am putting it here for you and if anyone knows that it's made by someone, please let me know who so I can give credit and a link.

This tutorial was written in PSP 7 but can be easily adapted to PSP 6.

1. Open a new image 400x400 transparent, flood fill with a medium colour ie. medium grey. Add a new raster layer and call it door.

2. With your preset shapes tool, antialias checked, vector unchecked, draw a rectangle from 75, 20 to 325, 395. in the colour of your choosing. I used white since I'm just going to flood fill with a pattern. If you are using a solid colour, use the colour you want the door to be.

3. With your selection tool, draw a rectangle from 95,40 to 305, 395. Edit---->clear;deselect.

4. With your magic wand, select on the white. Flood fill with a wood pattern if desired. Apply bevel. (if you are using a solid colour, just apply the bevel) I used the Blade Pro bevel_soft, this can also be used in Super Blade Pro. If you don't have BP or SBP, you can use PSP's inner bevel. I prefer BP's bevel, which is why I use it.

5. With your Draw tool, single line, width 20, antialias checked, create as vector unchecked draw a line from rectangle from 95, 210 to 305, 210. And another from 95, 255 to 305, 255

6. With the selection tool, select on the top white line and flood fill with wood pattern and apply the same bevel preset. Deselect and repeat for bottom white line. (You could do them both together, but it changes the look a bit and I didn't like it). If you are using a colour instead of the wood pattern, just apply the bevel to each line. Drag this layer to below the door layer.

7. Add new raster layer. With selection tool, draw an ellipse in between the two horizontal lines you just made. Don't worry about going over the lines as you will be moving that layer down later.  Flood fill with wood pattern and apply same bevel.

8. Edit---->Copy. Edit---->Paste as new selection. Move into place to the right of the first one.

Paste as new selection again and place to the right of that one. Keep doing this across the opening. Hint: turn on your grid to make it easier to place them evenly apart. After the last one, deselect and move the layer down below the other two.

9. Go down to bottom layer and add a new layer for the screen. On this new layer, with selection tool, draw a rectangle around the door, keeping the edges to partway between the outside of the door and the inside of the frame. (this part will not be visible because it's under the frame layer)

10. Flood fill with the screen pattern you made in the Screen tutorial. Deselect and lower opacity if desired. I lowered mine to 50%

12. Delete layer 1 (your gray colour layer). Merge your visible layers.

13. On merged layer, add new layer and place a doorknob. For mine, I drew a rounded rectangle with the selection tool and applied Mahogany's mah_goalden preset, available from her website.

14. Merge this with the door layer, sharpen if desired and you are done!
