Snowhead Ornament Page 2

9. Add new layer and name it "mouth". Draw a small circle and flood fill with black. Apply the Round inner bevel, but change the shininess to 30.

10. Edit--->Copy. Edit--->paste as new selection and place below and slightly to the right of the first circle.

11. Edit--->Paste as new selection and place below and to the right again. Keep doing this until you have the form of a smile. I ended up using my mover tool to move the mouth into a better position than I had at first.

12. Add new layer and name it "hat". With your selection tool draw a triangle as shown and flood fill with a colour of your choice:

13. Use your deform tool to fit the hat on the top of the head. Push in the sides and down on the bottom to get it to fit, as shown in image below:

14. Select the triangle with your selection tool. Selections--->Save to alpha channel.

15. Apply the same inner bevel as in step #3, but change the width to 15.

16. With your selction tool, draw a rectangle on the bottom part of the triangle and then use your magic wand to select inside the rectangle

17. Flood fill with colour of your choice. Effects--->Texture Effects--->Blinds. Use the following settings:

18. Apply the same inner bevel as in step #14 - I changed the elevation to 33 to lighten the cuff a bit.

19. If you want, you can apply a drop shadow to hide the top edge. Add a new layer and apply the drop shadow on the new layer. Here are the settings I used:

\

Now, to get rid of the shadow on the sides and the bottom of the hat, Selections--->load from alpha channel and load the selection you saved in step #14. Selections--->Invert. Edit--->Clear or hit your Delete key.

20. Turn off your background layer and merge visible the rest. Turn your background back on. Make sure you are on the merged layer. Image--->Resize. Resize by 75%, making sure "resize all layers" is UNchecked. With your mover tool, move the head to the bottom of the canvas. Now, not only do we have room for the top of the hat, but resizing also gets rid of any "jaggies" you might have on the hat. With your mover tool, move the head to the bottom of the canvas.

21. With your selection tool, draw a circle on top of the triangle, flood fill with a colour of your choice and apply the same inner bevel. Move into position if needed.

18. Take the hook image and open in PSP. Edit---->Copy and Edit--->Paste as new layer into your snowhead image. Place at the top of the hat and move the layer down below the merged image, if desired.

Delete the bottom layer and merge visible and tube it to use in your Christmas decorating images

Enjoy!
