Star Outline Ornament

Materials needed:

PSP 7.x - Get it here - will also work in PSP 6.x

A hook tube of your choice - you can download mine here

Glass Ball tubes - you can download mine here or use any you choose - these were made with KPT 5

1. Open a new image 300 x 300 and flood fill with a colour if desired. Add a new raster layer, naming it "outline"

2. Using your preset shapes tool, antialias checked, retain style and create as vector UNchecked, line width about 3, colour of your choosing (this will be deleted later), draw a star (star 2)

3. Add a new raster layer and name it "beads". Take your beads image, and resize by 25%. Effects--->Sharpen--->Sharpen. Edit--->Copy. Edit--->Paste as new Selection at the top of the star as shown:

4. Edit---->Paste as new Selection again and place just below and to the right of the first bead.

5. Edit--->Paste as new Selection again and place under the second bead. Keep doing this and trace the star outline until you get halfway around:

Note: If you prefer you can export the bead image as a picture tube and use the tube tool to do the outline. I find the tube tool too difficult to place exactly where I want and you can't move it once it's placed unless you do it on a new layer (you'd end up with many, many layers), but your mileage may vary. :)

5. Right click on the beads layer and choose "duplicate". On your duplicate layer, Image--->Mirror. Use your mover tool to move into place to finish the star. You will have to overlap the bead at the top tip and the bottom where it joins.

6. Delete your outline layer and turn off your delete your background layer. Merge visible the bead layers.

6. Add a hook tube or draw a string to use to hang it. Here, I have used my hook tube resized to 80%:

Now you have your outline star ornament - quick and easy! You can use single colour beads or multi colours as seen in the graphic at the top of the page - the red and green one was more tedious to copy and paste the beads one at a time but I like the end result. :)

Enjoy!
